This is a delight - sensitive, sensuous, and coming across all the stronger for having been experienced in live performance. Haste ye back to Scotland, Lisa and chaps!

One of the most unique offerings of recent years, Lisa Knapp’s album is both initially welcoming, yet more rewarding with each listen. Stylistically it is varied but works tremendously well as an album. Some startling new arrangements of traditional songs (see ’Blacksmith’ and ’Wild and Undaunted’) sit comfortably side by side with new compositions (’There U R’ sounding more like a cross between Bjork and Portishead than folk music). She also plays it straight straight down the line at times, and no better than on a fabulous rendition of ’Beggar Beggar’ where her voice will knock you off your feet. Lisa even manages to squeeze in (and not uncomfortably) a self-penned Americana-folk-blues style track in ’Little Bird’ which Gillian Welch would be proud of. Wild and Undaunted indeed!
