Sam is a founding member of Kerfuffle, and Castlereagh, a folk-indie group (with James Stafford and Tom Sweeney). Sam has played the fiddle since the age of 6, but also managed, rather impressively, to learn the pipes in a mere 6 weeks for his debut with Bellowhead!
Sam has won a bursery from the BBC performing arts fund in 2006, and has since succeeded in making strides into his chosen career as a folk musician. He has won a number of other awards including the ’In The Tradition’ award (which he won again with Kerfuffle in 2002) and the Wiltshire Folk Association Young Folk Award (both solo and with Kerfuffle), and was also a finalist in the 2004 BBC Young Folk Awards.
