Reviews

It was a thoroughly enjoyable night. A good mix of old and new, with lots of audience participation (and Jon considering us to be "advance chorus singers"). Highlights for me included Captain Ward and The Rain It Rains.

This was the only gig I got to on the current tour, and thought it was terrific. They did nearly all of Vagabond, plus loads of older stuff and plenty of rambling in between. Like Ellie, I prefer standing gigs and the Bully was perfect for that, although there were a few chairs and tables - but these were behind the dancers and speakers, so the view must have been limited to say the least. The crowd, as usual in the Oxford area, were right behind the chaps and there was plenty of singing along, even to the new things. A great night out, I’d say.

I may have been to a number of gigs on this S&B tour, but this one undoubtedly topped them all. Perhaps being their ’home’ area had something to do with it, but the crowd were enthusiastic, and didn’t require much urging to start dancing (quite unlike some I could mention!). Highlight of the night simply has to be the thoroughly re-jigged Princess Royal - fabulous! Nice also t0 be in a standing venue at last - chair dancing simply doesn’t do it for these guys.
