I’ve been to a fair few Spiers and Boden gigs, but their set at the Cumberland Arms in Byker was a one of particular excitement, as they were unleashing songs from their newest album, ’Vagabond’.
All was set to be a great night when the venue was already packed out well before the music started. Though the sardine-style arrangement of the audience did not allow for the preferred bopping and dancing, it was surely made up for with foot-stomping and a keen audience participation with the songs, which even Boden remarked as being the best of the tour!
As expected, the boys were on top form. The music was absolutely brilliant, as was the duo’s rapport with the crowd.
A thoroughly enjoyable night!
