Aidan O’Rourke, hailing from the Isle of Seil, near Oban is rightly considered a modern master of the fiddle. A member of the highly regarded Lau and a founder of Blazin’ Fiddles, Aidan also plays in Colin Steele’s Stramash. He has released two solo albums and won the ’Instrumentalist of the Year’ award at the 2006 Scots Traditional Music Awards .

He has composed music for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Unusual Suspects, Flook and Wolfstone and has been artist in residence for a number of Scottish Arts Council projects. One such project led to the An Tobar album release inspired by the Isle of Mull and celebrating the anniversary of the Tobermory Arts Centre.
Aidan is active as a teacher, running many fiddle masterclasses. He is highly sought after as a session musician, appearing on over 60 albums ranging from Runrig and Michael McGoldrick to a recent contribution to Patsy Reid’s ’Bridging the Gap’.
