BBC Folk Awards news

And the winners are...

Posted by Craig on 02 February 2009

Well, the BBC Folk Awards have been announced this evening. Radcliffe and Maconie didn’t manage to get their R2 show to the ceremony, but nevertheless, we at Bright Young Folk have the results (ok, they are on the BBC website...):

Folk singer of the year: Chris Wood
Best duo: Chris While & Julie Matthews
Best group: Lau
Best album: Trespasser - Chris Wood
Best original song: All you pretty girls - Andy Partridge (performed by Jim Moray)
Best traditional track: The lark in the morning - Jackie Oates
Horizon award: Jackie Oates
Musician of the year: Tom McConville
Best live act: The Demon Barbers

Full results are here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/event/folkawards2009/

I suspect there’s a few choices there which will keep people debating for some time - absolutely zip for Bellowhead, for example. Anyway, we’re off to work out who’s won the free CDs, and will let you know asap!
