Hannah James & Sam Sweeney

Best known for their work with Kerfuffle and recently Bellowhead and Remnant Kings, these two have been playing together for 8 years. This year sees them performing as a duo for the first time, producing reworks of traditional folk music in a spine tingling, mesmerising style.

Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts

These two young performers are on the crest of the new folk wave and are riding high. There work is inventive, with many unusual instruments such as the trombone making an entrance. They pen their own work and the occasional classic seeps in. Definitely a pair to watch and expect great things from.

Nancy Wallace

Has been playing folk for many years, her raw and sawn down versions of disco classics and folk songs really draws the listener in. Unforgettable music and an excellent style makes this artist a womens folk force.

Sam Carter

This has been Sam Carter’s year. He collaborated with Nitin Sawhney which resulted in a performance in the Royal Albert Hall. He has now been placed as emerging artist in the Southbank Centre and is receiving the acclaim he deserves. After years of working with Findley Brown, Spier & Boden amongst others he is stepping out and producing some of his own excellent work.
