Win a BBC Folk Awards 2009 CD

Posted by Craig on 23 January 2009

Here on the Bright Young Folk Blog we’ve already posted quite a bit about the forthcoming BBC Folk Awards. The ceremony is fast approaching and will be held in London on Monday 2 February 2009.

Ahead of this, we’ve teamed up with Proper Records to offer you - our lovely readers - the chance to win a set of the official 2009 Folk Award CDs. The bumper collection is well worth having, featuring tracks from every one of the nominated artists over 2 discs, with a bonus third album featuring live performances from this year’s ’Young Folk Awards’.

We have five sets of the CDs to give away and the competition is simple. All you need to do is post your predictions for the winners in the Best Album and Best Group categories. The nominations are:

Best Group Nominations

  • Bellowhead
  • Faustus
  • Lau
  • Mawkin:Causley

Best Album Nominations

  • Dreams of Breathing Underwater - Eliza Carthy
  • Low Culture - Jim Moray
  • This Earthly Spell - Karine Polwart
  • Trespasser - Chris Wood

The five entries nearest to the actual results on the night will be drawn out of a hat and win the CDs. As a special bonus, one lucky winner will also get the compilations from 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 as well. Can’t be bad.

So, there you go. Post your entries in the comments below by 11.59pm on 1 February, and good luck!

Thank you, entries are now closed!
