BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards - Nominees

The nominations have been announced for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011, and we’ll being our coverage of the awards with the finalists for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards.

The winner will be announced on 4 December 2010.

Adam Holmes
19 year old guitarist and singer-songwriter from Edinburgh

David Gibb & Ellie Lucas
A young duo hailing from Derbyshire in the Midlands. They play a mixture of original and re-worked traditional material and have toured the UK extensively as part of David Gibb & The Pony Club.

Mairi & Steaphanaidh Chaimbeul
Native Gaelic speakers from the Isle of Skye, sisters Mairi (16) and Steaphanaidh (15) share a love of traditional Gaelic singing and clarsach. Both pupils at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh, they are taught clarsah by Catriona McKay.

Moore/Moss/Rutter
A trio of young musicians from around England, playing mainly traditional English, contemporary and self composed tunes.
