Dogan Mehmet - a new Anglo-Turkish folk force to be reckoned with

Since the release of his first album Gypsyhead in 2009, Dogan Mehmet has been making a name for himself on the folk scene. A second generation Turkish Cypriot, Dogan has drawn heavily on his heritage and has created a Gypsy-Punk style that manages to seamlessly fuse traditional Turkish folk songs with Southern English favourites.

Although Dogan is a singer first and foremost he is also a talented multi-intrumentalist and plays the violin, guitar, melodeon, tenor guitar, and cajon along with various other traditional Turkish instruments. With his band The Deerhunters, Doghan is whipping up a storm wherever he plays and is certainly an artist who is sure to make you stop in your tracks. listen and then go out and buy the CD!
