If you’ve ever fancied forming your own Folk Band but always been stumped as to how to go about it, the Form a Folk Band workshops might be just what you’re looking for.

Starting in September and organised by Making Music South East (in conjunction with the Oxford Folk Festival), this series of workshops aim to bring together musicians to form folk bands and even suggests that a spot at next years Oxford Folk Festival might be in the offering to successful bands!

With a great group of established folk musicians as guest tutors (Nick Cooke, Paul Sartin, Pete Flood, Will Pound, Jim Moray and Maclaine Colston), the workshops promise to give you a great grounding on what it takes to form a band, from finding musicians to play with, developing your ensemble playing and improving performance skills through to learning how to arrange music in a group and playing for songs and dancers.

The workshops will be held at the SAE institute in Littlemore, Oxford, and cost £70.00 for all 6 workshops (£50.00 concessions and Making Music members). Course dates are 26 September, 3/17/31 October and 14/28 November.
