There’s plenty for the folky to enjoy at this year’s Glastonbury festival, ranging from statesmen to young turks.
Friday brings us Fairport Convention (Acoustic stage), Bishi who wowed Trafalger Square with a version of Flash Company at the recent St George’s day concert (The Park stage) and 3 Daft Monkeys (Avalon stage).
On Saturday we have Irish fiddler Cora Smyth (Acoustic stage), bright young folk-rock upstarts Wheeler Street (Avalon stage), Eliza Carthy (Avalon stage) and Edward II (Avalon stage).
Sunday rounds things off with Tunng & Tinariwen (The Park stage), Peatbog Fairies (Avalon stage), 3 Daft Monkeys again (The Glade) and Seth Lakeman (Avalon stage).
So while you’re chilling out or getting down to Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Spinal Tap, Tom Jones, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Blur, Franz Ferdinand, Alessi’s Ark or roughly a hundred thousand other acts, make sure you go and support our more traditional friends.
