The venerable Oxfolk’s ceilidh schedule for the first half of the year is as follows...

Saturday 10th January - The Committee Band with caller Nick Walden and spot from Jack Harris
The Committee Band will start Oxfolk’s New Year with a bang on Saturday 10th January. The Committee Band is a legendary phenomenon - massive, multifarious, electric, eclectic and irresistible. Expect an English band with a cosmopolitan range of musical styles and influences from Swedish to ska. Nick Walden, one of England’s top callers, is resident with the band and owner of an extraordinary wardrobe of loud shirts. There will also be half time entertainment from the soulful singer-songwriter and Oxford legend in the making, Jack Harris. Making the band’s Oxfolk debut is The Watch - a stompy, melodic yet subtly delicate three-piece band playing melodeon, piano and banjo. They play the tunes, play around with the tunes, and get you dancing. Another Oxfolk debut this month, is caller Phil Bassindale. A superb dancer himself, Phil’s boundless energy and classic dances will be sure to get you up and dancing! The one and only Ducklington Morris will providing interval entertainment.
Saturday 14th March - Ceilidhography with caller Cate Bannister and spot from James Bell
Ceilidhography, a five piece electric ceilidh band. Their style is based around English folk tunes fused with an eclectic mix of world beats - a "Super Funked up Ceilidh band!" Calling is the charming Cate Bannister. We will have a break from dancing with James Bell, an exciting and uncatgorisble singer-songwriter.
Saturday 11th April - Ladies’ Night with Mawkin with caller Pete Rees
We have a swoon-making line up as a special treat for all you lovely ladies this evening. Those wicked Essex rascals Mawkin have taken time out from their busy touring schedule to dazzle you with their cleverly textured tunes and energetic performances. Guaranteed to make you hot and sweaty, you won’t want to leave the dance floor! Tall, dark and handsome, the perfect choice for a ladies night: Pete Rees joins us to call the dances.
Saturday 9th May - The Gloworms with caller Cat Kelly and spot from Sam Jones
The Gloworms do a really cool and sweaty ceilidh! The trio play exciting reinterpretations of traditional English dance rhythms. They formed in 2001 with the aim of playing bold music that makes a deep connection with 21st century people. The result is cool, subtle music with irresistible dance groove. Calling is Cat Kelly, with a confidence and infectious enthusiasm quickly entices people on to the dance floor. Half time entertainment is provided by Sam Jones - a very flashy Welsh clog dancer indeed!
