Relig Oran mix the traditional music of England, Ireland, Brittany and Eastern Europe with it’s fiddles and bouzouki with driving percussion and more exotic sounds such as the African Kalimba. They will be kicking up a storm next month for a tour of Kent village halls. The group played a similar tour in 2007 which completely sold out so be sure to get along this time.

Project organiser Andy Renshaw explained. “The music we play comes down to us from generations of communities who have handed it on through the centuries, no more so than here in Kent. The music is the heart of a culture and village halls are fitting venues for that music to be performed. They are great venues at the heart of their communities and ideal for concerts. They are well equipped and play a vital roll in our villages. They have been a long standing passion for me. There is the added dimension that they are increasingly being eyed up by property developers, once these fantastic venues are gone, they won’t come back, so the more support they get, the better”.
Relig Oran are Andy Renshaw on African kalimba, percussion and whistles, Jem Scott on bouzouki, vocals and guitar, Martyn Kember on fiddle.
