Ed started his musical life playing in a local brass band in Yorkshire, picking up the biggest instrument he could find. He went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music. Classically trained he has played with a number of orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Welsh National Opera.

Whilst playing for the touring production of Chicago Ed met Gideon Juckes, who would sometimes dep for Ed in the show. When Gid moved to Japan a chance text conversation saw Ed invited to play with Bellowhead.
After depping with the band for over a year Ed became a full time member of Bellowhead in January 2010, and has recently recorded his first album with them.
When not performing with Bellowhead Ed is involved in education workshops and teaches Tuba.
