Faustus were formed to carry on the good work of the band Dr Faustus. They were Tim Van Eyken, Benji Kirkpatrick, Robert Harbron and Paul Sartin and put out two records: The First Cut (Fellside 2003) and Wager (Fellside 2005).

At the Sidmouth Folk Festival 2005, in the Anchor pub, Paul finds Saul and Benji enjoying a pint in the middle of a hot day. They have a meeting. Having played together for some ceilidh work as ’The Colonel Jenkins Memorial Band’ it is decided to take the trio on towards concerts. Since that meeting in Sidmouth, Faustus have established themselves as a major force on the English roots scene.
In late 2009 the band expanded their line up, with Pete Flood on drums. James Fagan has also been providing extra fret power. Following a winter tour that rarely saw all five musicians in the same place due to other commitments, Faustus will debut their fuller sound at the summer festivals.
