Gideon began playing the tuba at 13. In a career encompassing jazz, traditional world music and classical music, he has performed and recorded with, amongst others: Sigur Ros, Beverley Knight, Billy Cobham, Eliza Carthy and Paul Weller.

In 2009, Gideon Juckes moved to Tokyo and stopped being a full-time member 0f Bellowhead. He currently performs with Shibusashirazu Orchestra, Setsubun Bean Unit, Cicala-Mvta, LEM and Brassticks.
