Kerfuffle kicked off their 2nd midwinter tour in fine style at Hope. There was a good crowd, despite the weather, and we were treated to an evening of festive music and dance.

Rob Harbron, replaced Tom Sweeney who left the band in August, brought a different dynamic (and a number of instruments!) to the mix.
’O come, O come, Emanuel’ started the first set and was followed by their rousing version of ’Three Ships’. There was a mix of familiar material from the album ’Lighten the Dark’ along with old favourites such as ’Shepherds Arise’, which sadly, the band has not recorded. Hannah James performed a number of clog dances including a routine to a medley of festive (although not all traditional) music.

The wonderful harmonies which are becoming a trademark were very much in evidence and it was lovely to hear the audience joining in. Particularly enjoyed ’Lullay my Liking’ and ’The Bitter Withy’

It was an excellent start to the festive season and well worth venturing out for on a cold and icy night. I hope this tour becomes a regular precursor of Christmas. Please go along if you get the chance - you won’t be disappointed!
