All about Giles Lewin

Giles is something of an expert in both early music and Arabic music. He spent time studying Arabic violin in Egypt, and can sometimes be seen playing with Egyptian group Maqam. He plays with the Carnival band (and Maddy Prior), Alva, and is a founder member of The Dufay Collective. He also released a solo album, ’The Armchair Orienteer’ in 2008. He has recently begun playing in a duo with Steph West.

He joined Bellowhead in 2004 and left in late 2007 to be replaced by Sam Sweeney.
