It was during this period that Jim became known as folk singer with a wonderfully rich voice, performing both solo and as part of the a capella trio The Devil’s Interval (with Lauren McCormick and Emily Portman), who have also toured and recorded with Waterson:Carthy (on the album Holy Heathens and the Old Green Man and the Frost and Fire Christmas tour).
Jim’s debut solo album ’Fruits of the Earth’ appeared in 2005 and in 2006 he was nominated for the Horizon award in the BBC Folk Awards. He contributed several songs to the Song Links 2 project, linking English folk songs with their American variants.
More recently, Jim has been performing with Essex instrumental band Mawkin as Mawkin:Causley and has also been part of Scottish/English collaboration project Under One Sky, lead by John McCusker, with a host of other famous names.
