Jim Moray is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who performs both solo and as the ’Jim Moray Trio’ with Saul Rose (melodeons) and Jamie Delarre (fiddle). Raised in Staffordshire, Jim and his sister Jackie Oates were involved in folk music from an early age through their parents’ folk club. read more...

With the release of his home-recorded EP ’I am Jim Moray’ in 2001 whilst studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire, Jim began to make his mark. He spent the following couple of years touring both the UK and internationally. Following this, his first full-length album ’Sweet England’ was released in 2003, to be followed by a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Album (for Sweet England), and Best Newcomer.

His third full album, ’Low Culture’ (an accurate description of folk music if ever there was one!), presents traditional songs for the modern world, and was released in 2008, being named Mojo folk album of the year.

Following the 2010 compilation album ’Jim Moray: A Beginner’s Guide’, a fourth original album ’In Modern History’ was released as a cover CD on ’Songlines’ magazine in April 2010 before its main release in June of that year.
