Born in Chicago in 1977 Jon was raised in Winchester, England. He has a degree in Medieval Studies from Durham and in Composition for Theatre from London College of Music.

He released his first solo CD, Painted Lady, in 2006 and received the English Folk Dance & Song Society 75th Anniversary Award (Sheffield and South Yorkshire) in 2007.
Jon played with John Spiers in Eliza Carthy’s band The Ratcatchers before leaving in September 2007.
In 2009 Jon released his second solo album, Songs From the Floodplain to critical acclaim, and now tours with his band the ’Remnant Kings’ (Rob Harbron, Sam Sweeney, David Angel and Matt Grime).
Jon was voted Folk Singer of the Year at the 2010 Radio 2 Folk Awards.
