Maclaine Colston & Saul Rose

Maclaine Colston and Saul Rose are both leading players of their chosen instruments. They first played together as part of Eliza Carthy’s ’Kings of Calicutt’ and have also worked with Waterson:Carthy. Saul has numerous other folk projects including Faustus, ceilidh bands Whapweasel and Random, and the ability to turn up on any stage at any time playing with any other band.

Mac was a member of Cythara, folk rock outfit Pressgang and is now a member of Jennifer Crook’s band. He also currently lends his dulcimer skills to the London Philharmonic Orchestra performing the soundtrack to the ’Lord of the Rings’.

As a duo Mac and Saul succeed in making two instruments sound like many more, and are fast becoming stalwarts of the festival scene.
