Since forming in 2004, Megson have been a regular hit at folk festivals and as a touring act, and were recognised by a nomination for best duo at the 2009 Radio 2 Folk Awards. Their sound is characterised by excellent arrangements, vibrant guitar or mandola and pure vocal harmonies.

Megson have released three albums to date. Their début, ’On the side’ was a highly regarded mix of traditional and original songs and was followed by ’Smoke of Home’, containing largely original material which reflected the duo’s yearning for home after moving to the South East.

In contrast, ’Take Yourself a Wife’ brought new life to a collection of immaculately researched songs from 250 years of north-east musical tradition, with themes of emigration, industrial unrest and distant fathers.
