This was the first indoor festival I have ever been to. I went with my 22 year old son. It was fantastic to be in the warm cosy atmosphere of Music Port and to have a hotel room instead of a tent to return to. A pleasant change to Womad, especially when it becomes Womud.

The venue was beautiful and there was a perfect array of music, stalls, massages and music.

It was interesting going with my son as we each have different tastes in music and we both introduced each other to new artsits and styles.

We both enjoyed Richard Hawley. I think I enjoyed Imagained Village more than my son and my son enjoyed the Invisible System more than me.

Dobet Gnahore was great to watch but a little thin to listen to.

Jah Wobble and his Japanese orchestra was more interesting visually than in sound, I feel too many dub versions of other country artists have been done in part and would rather hear their music, or a dub band.

There were some fantastic smaller concerts of acoustic and semi acoustic dotted around the venue. My son enjoyed he later night DJs and I enjoyed an earlier breakfast and a folk world gig.

It brought us together. The memories that will stay with me are us both enjoying Richard Hawley. Watching the dress and colour of the Japanese who came with Mr Wobble. And the electrifying and almost shocking performance of the Invisible System. Shocking for someone my age with my taste in music but my son loved it although stated it was not loud enough, heavens above.

I can not wait to return next year.
