Ruth was a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2007. Shortly afterwards she signed a record deal with Mrs Casey Records. Threads was released in November 2007 and created quite a stir, receiving great reviews including 4 Star reviews in The Guardian and Mojo Magazine. Her second album ’The Life of Lily’ appeared in October 2009, featuring a blend of traditional material, self-penned songs and well chosen covers.
Ruth was one of eight artists in the ’All Along The Wall’ project in 2009/2010, inspired by life around Hadrian’s Wall, both ancient and modern.
